Dame Agatha Christie
Born in 1890, Agatha Christie, gave us two of the most famous detectives in world: Hercule Poirot and Miss Marple, beginning with her first novel, The Mysterious Affair at Styles, which introduced Poirot. After the publication of The Murder of Roger Ackroyd in 1926, Christie disappeared. For eleven Days. To this day, no one knows where she was or what she was doing. During her post-disappearance life and before her death in 1976, she wrote 66 detective novels and 14 short story collections. Her play The Mousetrap is the longest-running play in the world.
Ben Hanlon
Ben spent his life as a mechanical engineer, having never stepped foot in a theatre until his granddaughter Maggie’s sophomore year in high school. Her appearance as Gladys Antrobus in THE SKIN OF OUR TEETH changed his life. Maggie’s, too. She fell in love with theatre and is making it her career. Ben fell in love with theatre as well, and has been making up for lost time by attending every play and musical he can, wherever he is, and whether or not Maggie is in it. Now a retired engineer, and widower, Ben has fallen into a second career as a playwright, with THE MYSTERIOUS AFFAIR AT STYLES, and a new adaptation of Charles Dickens’ GREAT EXPECTATIONS coming soon.
