Novelist and playwright Dame Agatha Mary Clarissa Christie was born in 1890. She made a hit in 1920 with The Mysterious Affair at Styles, which introduced M. Hercule Poirot, one of the most famous and beloved detectives in modern fiction, to the world. And later, after vanishing for almost two weeks, she herself became one of the most famous women and writers in the world. At the time of her death in 1976, she'd sold about two billion copies of her books.
